Mangosteen

Did my chores
Put away the keyboards
Filed away the groceries

But time is all we talk about
In the place where the paint peels
In the room with the carpet stains
Like the taste of a fingernail
But the nectar of the mangosteen
sweetens up the scenery

I know
where I came from
but do you know
who came with me?
I think I remember it,
like a foolproof plan
I’ll get right on top of it
I’ll get right to it

Just give me air
Give me time
Give me girlfriends
Give me beautiful girls
Give me friends
Give me family

Did my best to make you see
Gotta give before you take from me
Now you’re stuck behind the furniture
Chewing on your mangosteens
Frozen with the irony

I know
where I wanna go
but do you know
who’ll come with me?
I think I remember it,
like a foolproof plan
I’ll get right on top of it

Just give me air
Give me time
Give me humanity
Give me beautiful girls
Give me friends
Give me family

But time is all we talk about
In the place where the paint peels
In the room with the carpet stains
Like the taste of a fingernail
But the nectar of the mangosteen
sweetens up the scenery

Keep your couch and groceries
I’m pulling out the keyboards
I’m cleaning up the carpet stains
I’m fixing up the scenery

I think I remember it,
like a foolproof plan
I’ll get right on top of it
I’ll get right to it
