St. Vincent "Marrow" on Jimmy Kimmel

“Marrow” is an extremely important song. I don’t know why. But it is. The originality, if nothing else, is off the charts. I admit I am not all that big a fan of most of St. Vincent’s music. So much of what she does is overwrought, I feel. stvincentBut then, she’s clearly trying to push boundaries. But christ, I am terrified of her. She is everything to music that I will never be: a multi-instrumentalist, a composer, a fantastic singer. I think I can do words better, and maybe, eventually, melody, but that’s it. St. Vincent is the anti-STETSON. I plunk away at my crappy acoustic guitar for days and days and still suck.

I checked around to a few performances on YouTube of “Marrow” and listened to the studio version, and for some reason nothing compares to this performance on Jimmy Kimmel. The sound is balanced, and the performance is spectacular. Not to mention she looks fucking fantastic. I have watched this video so many times.

St. Vincent “Marrow”

I am so scared of her…

(LATE UPDATE: The fucktards at ABC appear to have made them remove this video. And naturally there is no way to even view it on the ABC website. Great strategy, assholes. That video is the most I’d ever watched ABC for any reason.)
